NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — PULLMAN has received the Roger Corbetta Award for Repair and Restoration from the Concrete Industry Board (the New York Chapter of the American Concrete Institute) for its work on the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House Water Remediation Project in New York City. The award was presented at the Concrete Industry Board Awards Dinner on October 28th at the Rainbow Room at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert, the Alexander Hamilton Custom House is a New York City Landmark as well as National Historic Landmark designated by the National Park Service. When water infiltration threatened the building’s structural integrity and historic interiors, PULLMAN, alongside Consigli Construction and engineering partner Superstructures, identified the sources of water intrusion and designed and executed comprehensive repairs, all while preserving the building’s historic character and keeping the facility fully operational throughout construction.
The award recognized excellence in concrete repair and restoration, highlighting the technical demands of addressing water intrusion in a historically significant building while maintaining ongoing operations. A key feature of the repair project involved removal of masonry perimeter walls and replacement with durable and waterproof reinforced concrete walls. The project was one of the first pilot projects for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) completed under the Inflation Reduction Act’s low-carbon concrete requirements for concrete and steel construction materials, demonstrating how historic preservation and sustainable construction can work together.
“Restoring a landmark like the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House requires careful planning, technical precision, and respect for the building’s history,” said PULLMAN Project Executive Sarah Migliore. “Our team worked to address the water intrusion while preserving the building’s historic elements and maintaining operations throughout construction. This award recognizes the care and dedication our team brought to this challenging restoration project.”
The award reflects PULLMAN New York’s work to preserve a culturally and historically significant landmark while addressing critical building needs and supporting long-term performance and resiliency.
