Indianapolis lithium-ion cell maker adopts new name as it matures into a domestic volume manufacturer for defense, uncrewed systems, and industrial customers
INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — EnPower, Inc., a U.S. manufacturer of lithium-ion battery cells, today announced that it has changed its name to CAMINUS. The change is effective immediately. Leadership, team, facility, IP portfolio, and existing customer, partner, and supplier agreements remain unchanged.

Caminus is Latin for the forge that manufactured Jupiter’s lightning bolts in Roman mythology. The name signifies what the company does today: manufacture the modern-day lightning bolts that will power a new age of autonomous systems and critical infrastructure.
The rename marks a transition more than a decade in the making. EnPower was founded—like many others in the Western ecosystem—upon an identity of innovation. But innovation alone is insufficient, and the industry is all too familiar with those that have failed to translate innovation into scaled production. Especially amidst a new wave of critical technologies, CAMINUS is now growing to serve an even more urgent need: manufacturing execution.
“Growing a domestic manufacturing powerhouse for performance-driven batteries is becoming a national imperative,” said Adrian Yao, founder and CEO of CAMINUS. “By being one of few wholly American-owned cell manufacturers for non-commodity markets, we are also serving as the strategic integrator of IP-rich innovations in the West. CAMINUS is the graduation from a technology promise to an industrial mainstay, and we are building it to last for decades.”
CAMINUS operates a 92,000-square-foot, vertically integrated powder-to-cell facility at the heart of the Industrial Midwest in Indianapolis, with end-to-end production capabilities spanning slurry mixing, high-quality electrode coating, automated cell assembly, and formation. This rare domestic capability supports an NDAA Section 842-conforming supply chain for defense, uncrewed systems, and critical infrastructure. From contract manufacturing of toll-coated electrodes or complete pouch cells, to selling its own cell and pack products, CAMINUS is bringing specialty battery manufacturing back to the United States.
